Joely Pockets Fit

Postby Lissa » Sat Dec 04, 2004 10:41 am

for fit, i would give these a 5. my son has never had a leak in his joely pocket nappy. the nappy fits snugly around my sons waist and thighs and is a favourite of mine for daytime use. as with a fb, i stuff this with whatever i have on hand and it is a nice trim fit.

the only bummer is, the tabs are velcro so i have to put a pair of shorts or something over the top so he doesn't pull it off!

very easy to use and wash. quick to dry which scores major points with me

For fit - 5 they fit my wee man (14 months) really well. They work really well too - no leaks and quick to dry - and funky too.

:D

Definitely a 5 for fit!! The size medium fits my boy perfectly (11kg) with room to grow. I have a fleece one and a PUL one

The are very trim and quick drying. I love the colours and the velcro.

They are a bit more fiddly to stuff than fuzzibunz as the openings are alot smaller.

Joely Pockets Pocket

Postby Joelypockets » Fri Dec 17, 2004 3:54 pm

 My husband complained about the pocket opening for a large hand so I have started making the opening a couple of cms bigger. It is fine for me but I hadn't thought about those trained dads out there.

5 for fit from me.

I love my JP, it withstood the ultimate test the other day. It successfully contained a poopy. That was after being on all night too. It is a PUL one and was stuffed with 2 plain flats.

The white inner fleece was stained but a day and night in the rain, and then sun, sorted that out.

I have ordered another one with a fleece outer for daytime. Can't wait!

Well, Logan is getting a red fleece outer with cow on the back Joely Pocket for Xmas so will give my feedback once we've tried it.
Will probably order another one though... they're too cute!!

We have a farm fleece one. Very cute! Just wish the weather would warm up so we didn't have to cover it!

We had a few wee leaks the first few times we used it (for daytime sleeps) - not sure why, but I've since been stuffing it with a folded flat terry and we've had no problems (maybe it goes to the edges better then the prefolds?).

I really like the quick drying, and we've had no problems with it containing poo.

Probably my only "problem" with it (if you can call it a problem) is that it appears wider/more bulky between the legs than some of Em's other naps. But, then again, a wider crotch area makes it easier to stuff.

Now that we have this version sussed, a PUL one is on the wish list! (Go Bob the Builder!)

I would give the JP a 5 for fit too. I have two and they're great. My favourite, favourite thing about them is the super fast drying time (especially in this "nice" summer weather we're having). The only down side for me is I find them a bit bulky when stuffed with a flat folded into a pad so I'll have to get some prefolds I think. We've definately never had leaks and they contain poo nicely

on kane i'd have to give this a 4 (the large size, pul)

to be fair though, k is very tall & tends to need a nappy with a high rise. because of the extra wide waist (which makes this the only velcro nappy that DOESNT rub k,) the rise is really needs to be higher to fit k's waist as well as i'd like. it is fine with bulky night stuffing, but i am not sure i could get a firm enough fit round his waist with a slimmer day stuffing.

however, the pul joelys are just as leakproof as the fb's & the slightly wider crotch makes it easier to fit kanes night stuffing in.

i like the pocket opening ie. not as open as an fb but nowhere near as tight as a wonderoo...(a bit wider opening wont be a bad change tho andrea)

possibly a particularly good nappy for a bub with a larger waist/shorter body than kane.

definitly a leakproof night nappy! even when the fit isnt perfect on my boy, which is pretty impressive i think...

I would give this nappy a 5.

I have a fleece one and it fits Nathan really well (9kg).
I did notice it seemed wider in the crotch than others but this isn't much of an issue - it fits nicely around the legs.

I LOVE the wide waist tabs/wings area - the fleece is long enough that it goes around his waist well and protects from velcro rubbing on him which is something I am concerned about with other nappies.

I have used it with a FB insert and doubler inside and with a prefold laid on (using the nappy as a cover) - works great both ways.

Edited: We now have 5 fleece Joely Pockets and 1 PUL one as well as 1 wrap style cover (and dress set!!! so cute!).
We LOVE them all - they are without a doubt my favourite pocket nappy. Andrea doesn't recommend using Fleece pockets at night but I prefer to use my fleece pockets at night. Nathan is a very heavy wetter and I use 2 microfibre inserts and a hemp flat tri-folded inside a large fleece Joely Pocket at night and it works perfectly. We never have leaks, unlike with many of our other PUL pocket nappies. Nathan is now 12kg and wears mediums during the day and large at night. Faith is 8kg and wears mediums too.

Thanks so much Andrea for making such great quality nappies!

We have one fleece JP - the Cheeky Monkey one, which is absolutely gorgeous.

The microfleece inner seems to be quite thick, but it doesn't seem to get much fluff on it in the wash, so that's awesome. The first couple of times of use was a disappointment, but since we experimented stuffing with a FB insert, it's been working like a charm! Truly weird in that now my FB insert can be used more often (as we can't seem to stuff FB with FB inserts!)

Awesome workmanship from Andrea, you ought to be proud of yourself.

:D I changed to a curved velcro tab because I have found that the square ones tend to curl as they get older at the edges and this way they retain their good shape. Other than the shape of the velcro tabs the tabs are identical to before.

:o I can't understand why the outer fleece rubbed in the first wash. This is not something I have encountered before. Being a dark colour it probably would be prone to lint from other lighter coloured nappies so I don't know whether this has played a part in the washing. I will have to do a wash test on some of this fabric myself.
