Helen'Soakers

Post by AbbeHG » Fri May 12, 2006 7:32 am

TNN Member 'Callum's godmother' (Helen)
knits gorgeous woolen soakers.

I have two soakers knitted by Helen
Style:
I personally really like the full body style and ribbed waistband for my son. It fits over even a very bulky fitted nappy. But she does (can do) various styles.

Performance:
Being wool, these covers can be used for day and night. And airdried between wearings - making for a very convenient nappy cover.

Quality:
The knitting is flawless.

Price:
Excellent value for money.

Service:
Excellent. Ready-made and made to order.

Other comments:
I have two out-of-the ordinary wool mixes in the form of a
- wool/Mohair soaker
- wool/ Possum soaker.
Both are SUPER soft and very gentle on any areas that touch against skin. I treat all my soakers with care but especially these two. To date they function as effectively as 100% wool. I've noticed both tend to have more stretch than wool.

Thank you Abbe, I need to employ you as my marketing manager - except I still haven't finished all my January swappsies!!!

I was interested to know how the possum / mohair went - as I have only made 3 garments in that (been a bit nervous that it would stretch too much!).

Have you put it thru the washing machine?

The other kidmohair / merino is my absolute favourite although that probably will pill a little.

My husband just came in and said my head is big enough already and I don't need any further encouragement!

Better go, we are on our way out!

Helen

I have a pair of Helen's longies for DS. (They are identical to the ones in her avatar pic).

WOW! Sooooo soft.....possum. They feel quite thin, but are soooo warm and seem to cope with wet naps. (Although I've been using them over a PUL pocket lately....)

Rave, rave rave......would wear them to bed myself if they would fit!

Generous sizing....so should fit DS for ages yet. They have a drawstring waist, and cuffs on legs which are rolled up at the moment.

No complaints here!

Well done.

DD 8 years. DS 6 years. DS 4 years. DS 1 year.

Deborah, I'm pleased to see that my knitting is coming around for a second time! In fact would have expected to have seen more in the Trading post ... hope you haven't all shrunk them in the wash

I think there are some really old threads with photos on them - so nice to look back on and remember some of the members who don't come here so often now!
