They are cool Dunners - I don't think I'm really up for making my own though

And the pictures came out fine, but the writing is hieroglyphic-esque (might just be my computer though).

Those are pretty cool Leanne, maybe I should have another go  I have plenty of purple shiny lycra here. What sort of fabric was that? It looked more like a cotton?

Yeah, it's cotton lycra but a shiny poly/nylon lycra will work fine.

Give it a go Jo, they really are easy to make.

Wow!

Those togs look great.
I have had a 'scrap' of material sitting here to make some togs for Cajun but didn't know where to start.
They look so easy....seeing your pics has made me think I can sew some on the weekend for him :-)
Don't think I'll have time before then.

Thanks for posting this.
cheers

Hey thanks for the encouragement Leanne, it was just what I needed to get started, and I made a great pair of purple lycra swim pants for Jaimee. I unpicked them once cos they looked too big (couldn't check cos she was in bed) and they turned out great. Can't post a photo as I haven't sorted out the photo hosting thing since that whole thing with photobucket. so what happened with that? and where do people have their photos now? I must sort it out.... :?

Well, I think I've finally got it sorted for photos, so heres one of the 'swimmers' I just made Jaimee. They're not a perfect fit on, but thats ok 8)

Wow, sophie has grown since I last saw her!
It wasn't THAT long ago was it?

I have 2 swim nappies here, not sure of brands (they are in caiden's room & he's fast asleep)..

I brought on trademe for $1 and $2 each, just wanted them so I can make my own... I would give you the pink one but it's for a 3-6 month old and I think sophie is a little big for it?

Thanks, she's pretty much out of most of her 3-6 m stuff. I am thinking of waiting til the Parent & Child show to see some in the "flesh".

Just a quick question -

For those who have tried a few different swim nappies, what kind would you suggest for a bubba with skinny matchstick legs?

Can't wait to get bubs in her new pair of pink frilly togs ----just need a nap now to contain any outflow!!!!

Thanks muchly :-)

my little girl is 10 mths, 7.8 kg (with skinny legs) and she wears a funky bumz size small swim nappy. fits really nice and snug. this is the only swim nappy we have tried though but have had not need to try anything else yet. hope this helps :)

i agree with Leanne.
I have been using the Bummis cow. I got a medium and way to big so for the first year and a bit i just used a snazzi (the same one). I've been using the bummis cow print for a wee while now and had never noticed it as DS has always had a full swimsuit on over the top. But we have had the paddling pool out this week and he's just been in the Bummis and it sags so low, there is no way it would contain a poo if we were at the town pool. i can't get the tabs to cross over enough to change the fit at all. So i am going to go back to a nappy when in the pool and not worry at home.

What style(s) have you used? Homemade
What size did you use (and how big was your baby, approx)? 18 months ish one
How well did they fit? Wonderfully!
What was good about them? Dead cheap to make, girly, snug, no pooling of water
What didn't you like? ???

Hi there, found this as I was looking at old threads and posts.
Just wondering if you have a pattern for the swimmer you made, and also what sort of material did you use?
I am quite keen on making a little swimmer for my DS, but have no idea where to start really!

What style(s) have you used? Motherease
What size did you use (and how big was your baby, approx)? Small on 6 week old, medium on 14 month old, both big for their age (about 6kg/13kg respectively). The older one would probably fit the large too which we have but I haven't tried it as the medium fits so well.
How well did they fit? Really really well! Particularly on our older boy, just like undies. We haven't had a poo incident yet but I think they'd do swimmingly (pun intended :) )
What was good about them? Side snap so any mess can be removed rather than smeared down legs with pull ups - yuk! Also snaps don't catch things like velcro can. Lycra so water flows through without pooling, has a mesh liner thing. Price also, I got them on special for AUD$12 each.
What didn't you like? They're awesome, I like everything.
