I want to make this pattern for my baby nicknamed bunny but would prefer to use merino instead of fleece would it work?

I can't see a reason why it wouldn't. I've made quite a few merino hats without ears using this pattern http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2011/04/fre ... -dye-diva/ and it has been fine every time.

It will probably be a different size than the pattern states as merino is thinner, but you should be able to work around that. But biggest thing I think would be the ears wouldn't stand up, merino wouldn't be stiff enough (maybe add interfacing?)

dont really want the ears to stand up.
Good point about it being thinner though hadnt though of that, i'll make the newborn size, my kids hav fat heads (ouchies LOL) so newborn would normally be too small i'ld say lol

OMG thank you so much for linking that pattern!!
