Still needing help with Wellington Expo

Post by Susie Cardno » Tue Apr 21, 2009 12:21 pm

We are still looking for volunteers to help out with information and sewing demonstartions at the expo on 2 May in Wellington. Volunteers are almost non existent and things won't really come off well without enough helpers. Can anyone spare an hour or two on the day? You don't have to be a sewer or expert, just use (or have in the past) cloth nappies yourself. The fact that you are part of The Nappy Network means you have some interest and knowledge about cloth nappies.

We are also still needing a couple more stalls. If you sell anything baby related we would love you to come and join us. It is only $25 each.

Is anyone wanting to run a refreshment place from the kitchen selling tea, coffee and snacks? We thought it would be a good idea for a plunket group or charity group in the area.

Meeting overview

Post by Susie Cardno » Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:14 pm

Here is the overview of the meeting this morning. Thank you Posh for so kindly opening up your home to us all.

MINUTES OF MEETING 27TH APRIL 2009

Present: Ruth, Ali G, Anastasia, Lisa, Amie, Sarah and Susie.

Discussed:
Refreshment area: the kitchen will be set up with tea, coffee etc and some home baking and Girl guide biscuits for people to help themselves for a gold coin donation. The information table ladies will check it regularly during the day and if they get too busy then the other people there will take over.
Items and who is bringing things
Tea – Ruth
Coffee – Sarah
Sugar – Ali
Milk – Susie
Milo – Sarah
Baking – Susie, Ruth, Ali and whoever else can.

Who is doing what:
Ali – in charge of the ‘how to sew fabric nappies’
Megan (stipeycat) – if she can help out this would be a great place to help.
Anastasia, Amie, Lisa – Info table – Demo kit, Brochures etc
Susie, Sarah, Tash, Ruth, Clair on stands.

Raffle: We put a lot of discussion into what the profits of the raffle should go to. It seems best that the profits go to a specific fund with a set up trust so as to ensure the money is spent as intended. Also, TNN is in need of funds also. So (we need to run this by Tash first as she has been generous with the prize) we think it best to put a few nappies in with the prize of a night at the Bolton and split the funds between the neonatal trust and TNN.

Road Advertising – Lisa is going to print some big posters and laminate them so that we can set them up on the road to guide people to the venue. Sarah and Ali have offered to bring some stand (white board and black board stands) to stand the posters up.

Toys – from the toy library at the venue.

I have they key and access card and have been given the run down on how to get in and how to clean up and lock up. We need to be at the Newlands Community Centre(9 Batchelor St) at 9.30am to set up and all need to stay at the end until the venue is as clean as we found it.

We could still do with more volunteers so if you hear of anyone who would been interested in coming along to help out then grab them!!

See you all there!!

Will it be on the Community Notices as well? We noticed that it wasn't listed on the website...

It should be, the website and the on-air component are run by different people/departments.
