Anastasia - Could you give us a brief of your qualifications for being auditor? maybe we could nominate you for treasurer instead?![]()
(I would have thought the auditor would not be member of the society?)
I am a Chartered Accountant (retired status - due to not working at the moment). Used to work as a tax investigator for IRD

I am happy to be treasurer if that is what people think is best

well, that's qualified enough for me.
nzmum - It is not a requirement for all charitable societies to be audited, but it is in our (TNN Inc) rules to have them audited. If we decided not to have an auditor we'd need to change the constituion. (is this right? i've tried and tried to read them again online, but IE keeps crashing when I do a search)
found this interesting article tonight, while trying to track down auditors
http://toylibrary.co.nz/nzlibraries_files/Auditing.pdf
Personally, I'd be happy with changing the rules so we don't need to be audited, but that financial records are produced by a chartered accountant (posh!).

Personally I am happy with clear accounts done by an accountant.
However audited accounts make us eligible for discounted hall hireage, grants etc when we put on events for Real Nappy Week and the like, so where possible I would like ot see them audited.
I would gladly second Anastasia for the position of Auditor or Treasurer.

If we can get them audited for free, then this would be great. However, our experience was that it was very hard to find someone to even do them cheaply. So the cost of the auditing could be much higher than the benefits of certain discounts. We also apply for many grants and our lack of audited accounts hasn't been an issue. However, TNN as a larger internet based organisation may need the transparency of audited accounts more than local community groups.
Anastasia - do you have any accountant colleagues that you could hit up to audit the TNN accounts? I assume you can't do it as a member of the society?

Okay moving right along...
Clause 13.3..."the Board shall consist of not fewer than 6 nor more than 15 Members elected or appointed..."
So the following are the positions that members have either been nominated for or self volunteered. (ref: http://thenappynetwork.org.nz/phpBB2/vi ... sc&start=0)
For clarity, can members please post here saying they second any one or more of the nominations. So simply state something like , "I, CC, second nomination of k8ylou/Claire as co-Chairpersons of TNN Inc."
Due to the nature of our online meeting, I'm going to make a call that as there are no two people contending for any of the roles, that being nominated and seconded deemed the person voted/appointed as the respective Board member. If however, any member wants to object the appointment of any of the members, you have the opportunity to PM me, in which case, I will then ask for a voting process for that person.
So the new Board nominated are:
Chairperson - K8ylou/Claire (job share)
seconded by CC
Secretary - K8ylou/ Claire (job share) (2nded)
Treasurer - Posh (2nded)
Spokesperson - Kaz (2nded)
Community Liason - Karmiec (2nded)
Organiser of Demonstrations - Aidanasher (2nded)
Website - Stacey (2nded), Navarri/Katriana (in training) (2nded)
Forum Administrator - Stacey (2nded), Navarri/Katriana (in training) (2nded)
Designer - Heart (2nded)
Advertising - Callum's Godmother (2nded)
Hire Kits co-ordinator - Callum's Godmother (2nded)
