What is the best absorber using flats?

Sorry but I don't know alot about flats and I intend to get some on my website soon, as I know some people prefer them and it is good to have a choice for eveyone.

I had a customer that wanted to order more absorbency for her flats and was ordering up standed microfibre inserts which would not have been good against the skin. So what is the best option? you can use fleece topped doublers I guess, but what else is a good absorber for underneath?

I would appreciate your feedback and knowledge on this as I need to know a bit more about this stuff if I am going to stock them on my website.

I use my flats as pocket stuffers so they are not against the skin anyway. I have plain hemp and hemp and microfibre. I'm also going to make some bamboo and ? (still deciding) ones.

I find a plain flat and some kind of hemp flat or insert a really good combo. I put the cotton closest to the little bottom

so could you use pocket inserts underneath the cotton?

Depends on how you do it I suppose! I use my flats pad folded with a BSWW, so I just make a little pile of absorbent things depending on what I need.

she is meant to be using. Not microfibre as it is known to cause irritation. Can't remember where I heard it though sorry

I am planning on using flats and prefolds when bubs comes - so am interested in hearing how others boost them too....
Can you not put microfibre inside the flat so that it is not touching bubs skin directly thus avoiding the problem of it taking bubs natural moisture out of skin? Just thought that especially with the flats there are quite a few folds where you could tuck it inside... what do others think?

That is what I am questioning as well if the cotton is on top and the insert underneath then would this be ok against the skin? A fleece topped doubler wouldn't really be enough coverage with insert underneath, unless it went under the cotton.

one thing you could do with flats is make inserts that are MF (or hemp or bamboo or a combo) with microfleece on top so it has more absorbancy, coupled with a stay dry liner, I have a few of these and they work quite well as boosters

i've bought some bamboo and hemp inserts for pockets and sort of tucking them in the fold which is great, i have wondered about doing that with microfiber! i find a good thing with flats is having some 'pre-folded' i have jo fold all ready to go and stacked in my storage boxes andwith boosters/fleece stay dry liners tucked inside too.
it might be the only one but i tend to chuck the flat on then realise ive forgotten to boost etc and then have to redo it by which time dd is wailing hungrily
