Older children swim naps
I'm not sure if I posted this question in the right place but wondering if anyone can help.
A friend of mine has a 7 year old boy who has been extremely traumatised by the Chrustchurch quakes. They are seeing counsellors etc but he is really struggling to control his bowels etc as a result.
His school is doing 2 weeks of swimming and he has to wear swim naps, he is already getting teased at school for his issues and his Mum thinks this could make it worse. We were wondering if anyone does cloth swimmers for older kids which look more like normal togs if you know what I mean.
Thanks.

Re: Older children swim naps
If he's going to jelly park their signs state no cloth nappies.
It might be more discreet for him to use spouse ones, then he can change in a toilet and chuck them in the bin. Its the kind of thing I could imagine (for my DS anyway), that would fall out of his bag then he would be baby nappy boy or something like that
.
If it helps at all, DS1 was exactly the same and he's just started to come right. How many times a day is he having issues? You can PM if you want

Re: Older children swim naps
I say ignore the no cloth nappies sign - people wouldn't expect a 7yo to wear nappies so they'd just think it's togs.
These look good

ya ha!! I guess they are a niche market.. but really there isn't that much fabric in them.. even in adult sizes!
I would go disposables if it was just for 10 lessons. They can be dried and reused if they aren't dirty. Wouldn't show under baggier swimming shorts. Not sure what size they go up to though?

Re: Older children swim naps
I've always interpreted the signs to mean you need swim nappies, and as its sponsered by Huggies this is what is available. The reference to cloth is to actual nappies. My kids have only ever worn cloth swim nappies at Jellie Park (as have other kids in the lessons) and its never been a problem. One of the original swim tutors we had at Pioneer (she was in charge) said as long as they didn't have absorbent layers to get weighed down, and had a good seal around the leg it was all fine.

Re: Older children swim naps
What about using the shorts style of togs and having the swim nappy underneath. Still the possibility of changing room teasing, but hopefully there is a way to avoid that too.
